Disney / Pixar  Pixar got its official start in 1986 when the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm, Ltd. split off to form its own computer animation studio. What started as a company of less than 50 employees has grown into an Academy Award-winning, world-class studio. In November 1995, Pixar and Disney made animation history with the release of Toy Story. Toy Story was the first feature film to be entirely computer-animated. Since then, Pixar and Disney have released 7 additional computer-animated feature films, the latest being Ratatouille. On May 5, 2006, Pixar merged with Disney and became a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.
