English playwright A. A. Milne brought Winnie the Pooh and all of his friends of the Hundred Acre Wood to life in 1926 with the help of illustrator E. H. Shephard. Winnie the Pooh’s character is based on a teddy bear that A. A. Milne purchased for his son, Christopher Robin Milne. Christopher Robin originally named his bear Edward Bear, until Christopher Robin met and formed a lasting relationship with a black bear name Winnie who lived in the London Zoo. From that moment on, Edward Bear became known as Winnie the Pooh. Over the years, Christopher Robin collected other stuffed animals – a donkey named Eeyore, a tiger named Tigger, a pig named Piglet, and a couple of kangaroos named Kanga and Roo. All of Christopher Robin’s original stuffed animals (except for Roo, which was lost in 1931) are on display at the New York Public Library.

A. A. Milne wrote only two books about Winnie the Pooh and his friends -- Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) and The House at Pooh Corner (1928), but these and other Pooh stories have reached the hearts and homes of people young and old thanks to the ingenuity of The Walt Disney Company. Walt Disney released its first featurette Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree in 1966, and, ever since, Winnie the Pooh’s popularity has nearly surpassed that of the original Disney icon Mickey Mouse.

Disney and Makit Products now bring Winnie the Pooh and his friends to your home in our one-of-a-kind keepsake Photo Plate® and Make-a-Plate® kits. With many borders and coloring pages from which to choose, you and your child can create works of art to cherish forever. What better way to honor your best friend than with a picture of the two of you preserved in a Pooh and Piglet Photo Place? Or how about a family portrait surrounded by all of the characters in the Hundred Acre Wood?

You can choose from any of your favorite Winnie the Pooh characters and for any occasion, whether it’s for a holiday, a birthday or just for fun.
