Mary's Story
I began teaching in the fall of 1971. In the fall of 1972 I got married and placed my first order to the Makit Plate Company. I was teaching special needs children and there was really no way the plates could have turned out "bad". I used the Makit Plates for a number of years as my students' family Christmas presents. I would get small pizza boxes from our local pizza place and we would wrap up the plates with Christmas paper that the students had stenciled and tie it up with very gaudy ribbons. Dr Joyce Scott's StoryDr. Joyce Scott of Celina, Tennessee has written a book dealing with nutrition and overall health. Dr. Scott’s book has an interesting companion – a Make-A-Plate! Jan's Story
In about 1987, I met an artist from Cedar Rapids, Iowa named Sharon Burns-Knutson. She would drawn on plates and sell them in a gallery. We became friends and she made me a plate with an image of the two of us talking on the phone. Sharon was the person who told me about Nasco and the plate picture kits. That summer, we vacationed in northern Michigan and on the trip we were reading Bill Bryson’s latest book "The Lost Continent." read more William's StoryI created this plate in 1972 or 1973? as a gift for my Mom - I can't remember exactly when . I know it was one of my mom's most prized possessions. She used it for years like a normal plate and even when I was in my Thirty's she called me to tell me how much she loved it. I am so glad I made her happy.

I first was introduced to your Makit plates when I was a young girl in 1966. My scouts troop leader brought along this delightful fun craft for us girls to do. Boy, were we all excited to receive our plate ptctures transformed onto plastic plates of our very own. After finding your product on an online auction website, I unpacked my original 2 plates that I had made as a young girl scout. Now I'm excited to gather my grandchildren together and help them discover the excitement that I experienced way back in 1966. How sweet it'll be to capture their delight in receiving their very own plate in the mail. I'm ever so thrilled that your company still exists today. Thank you so much for the fond memories of when I made my first plates.
