Markers
Q. Can markers other than Makit Markers be used?
A. The only markers we recommend other than Makit Markers are Rose Art classic washable markers. For a list of acceptable markers click here.
Ink Pads
Q. I want to make hand and foot prints. What kind of ink pad should I use?
A. We recommend any brand of inkpad that uses washable ink.
Dishwasher - Microwave Safe?
Q. Can I use my melamine product in the dishwasher or microwave?
A. Melamine products may be washed in the dishwasher. Do not microwave or use product in the oven.
Duplicates
Q. Can multiple plates be processed from one drawing?
A. Yes. While we do use the original drawing in the creation of the plate we are able to make copies by digitally scanning and reproducing it. If you would like multiple copies please let us know as part of your order.

Q. Will duplicates look exactly like the original?
A. No. Reproductions will appear slightly different in color and contrast.
Writing and Drawing
Q. Does writing have to be backwards on the paper for the words to show correctly on the plate, bowl, hot plate or other product?
A. No. Your writing will appear on the plate exactly as you have written it.

Q. What happens if I mark on both sides of the paper?
A. We don’t recommend writing on the back of the paper. Any markings on the reverse side of the paper will bleed through to your final image on the front.

Q. Can any kind of paper be used to make the artwork or does it have to be Makit paper template?
A. No. The Makit paper is a special heat treated paper that is specially die-cut to mold to the Makit products.

Q. Can paper templates for plates be used for other products like bowls or hotplates instead?
A. No. Each product is a different size and perfectly fitted to the mold of each product.

Q. Which side of the paper do I draw on?
A. Either side of the paper can be drawn on. Only use one side not both.

Photo Collages
Q. Can a collage of pictures be used on the photo plate, platters, or trays?
A. Yes, but you will need to glue or tape your photos the way you would like them positioned. We will scan your collage exactly as you have arranged it. If you know and understand collaging software or use photoshop, please feel free to send an electronic file of your artwork.

Q. What size pictures should I use on a photo plate?
A. We prefer 5x7 or larger. Smaller sizes have to be enlarged quite a bit to fit a 10 inch plate and that enlargement will affect the quality of the picture.

Q. How long does it take to receive the product once the order is received by your company?
A. From the time we receive the order it usually takes 3 weeks to process. This does not include shipping time. Allow extra time during peak season. (See next question)

Q. When do orders need to be received in order to guarantee delivery in time for Christmas or Mother’s Day?
A. These holidays are our busiest production periods. Please allow at least 4 weeks for orders to be processed at these times. We cannot guarantee processing and shipping times. You can avoid delays by ordering early.
CHRISTMAS To receive plates back before Christmas, we must receive your order no later than NOVEMBER 21.

Q. Do you ship internationally?
A. We can ship to Canada and Puerto Rico.
PO Box & APO
Q. Do you ship to a P.O. Box addresses or APO addresses?
A. Yes. We will be glad to ship your package to a Post Office Box or APO address.

Q. When do I pay and what forms of payment can I use?
A. Payment is due at the time the order is placed. We accept payment by check, money order, and credit card. (Note: checks submitted are processed through electronic draft.)
We do accept Purchase Orders from schools.
If you are ordering from our catalog you may fax the order along with a copy of the Purchase Order to: 972-709-1594. (Mail orders should also include a copy of the Purchase Order.)
Certificates & Discount Codes
Q. Where do I enter my certificate number or discount code?
A. If you are placing an order through our online ordering system, follow the design instructions from your selected product. The code from your certificate should be entered in the space labeled “Coupon Code” at the Order Summary Screen. When you have entered your code click on “Apply”.

Payment Methods
Q. Can I order with checks or money orders?
A. Yes. Paying with a check or money order is no problem. Simply include your payment when you mail in your order for processing. Please note that all check payments will be converted to an electronic transaction.

Q. When will my credit card be charged when my order is placed?
A. Charges are made at the time of the order.

Q. Is it safe for me to use a credit card on this site?
A. Yes. Our website uses encrypted security to protect your credit card information. Protecting your personal and financial information is important to us.
Currency Types
Q. Do you accept Canadian funds as payment?
A. No. All payments must be in U.S. Dollars.
Sales Tax
Q. Do I have to pay sales tax on my order?
A. Only orders to residents of Texas are taxed. If you are a Texas resident, calculate 8.25% of your processing charge for the correct amount. Residents of other states do not pay sales tax.

Damaged Papers
Q. If there is a small hole or tear in the paper, can the product still be processed?
A. Yes. The tear will not effect the processing. A small white spot will appear on the finished product where the hole was in the paper.

Q. Should I write my name on the back of my drawngs/artwork?
A. No. Writing on the back of the paper will bleed through onto the finished product.

Q. I wrote on the back of my artwork and the writing showed up on the finished item. Will you remake it for me at no charge?
A. No. Unfortunately, we are unable to remake those items at no charge. However, we are happy to help you fix it and remake your selection for a nominal fee.

Q. What is Makit's return policy?
A. Makit Products will accept return of unopened, unused merchandise that did not require factory processing like Snap It products and unopened kit boxes..
Returned merchandise is shipped to Makit Products at the expense of the customer. Makit Products will deduct a 15% restocking fee from the total dollar amount of all returned merchandise. The balance of the dollar amount of the returned merchandise will be refunded to the customer. Returns should be shipped to :

Q. Do you know if the Makit plates are made with Bisphenol a (BPA)?
A. There is no (BPA) in our Plates. We mold the childs artwork into each plate using a thermalset melamine compound. It has been used in dishes for over 50 years.
