Warped Checkerboard Sphere Illusion
Can a flat checkerboard look round? Students can color the warped pattern and explore how curved lines and changing shapes make the design appear to form a sphere.
Then challenge them to bend another familiar pattern. Experiment with checks, stripes, dots or shapes to make a flat design appear curved, stretched or three-dimensional.
